RoomLenz support
A little help, when you need it.
From your first scan to saving and sharing. Find a useful answer, or contact RoomLenz directly.
Which devices can scan rooms?
Room capture requires a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro and iOS / iPadOS 17 or later. This includes iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPad Pro M5. Camera access is required. Devices without LiDAR cannot perform a RoomPlan scan.
How should I scan a room?
Use good light and walk slowly around the room. Capture all walls, doorways and large furniture. Keep the app open as you move between rooms so their positions share the same tracking session. Review the outline before saving.
Do I need extra photos for scanned materials?
No. A normal scan can automatically use selected camera images and LiDAR depth to add color and photographic materials. Surfaces that are hidden, reflective or not observed clearly may keep a simplified material. A 360° panorama is an optional, separate capture.
What does ‘Adding scanned materials’ mean?
The room geometry is already saved. Photographic materials and optional RoomPlan exports are still being prepared in the background. You can continue scanning or view the saved room. Keep the app open to let this work finish. Closing it early may leave those optional assets unfinished, while the saved room remains available.
What should I do if tracking is interrupted?
For a brief interruption, point the camera toward the area you already scanned and move slowly while tracking recovers. If the app says to finish the saved rooms, finish that property or keep its individual room models. Start a fresh scan separately so unrelated tracking sessions do not overlap.
Why will a panorama from Photos not import?
Choose a complete 360° equirectangular image with a 2:1 aspect ratio, at least 512 × 256 pixels, at most 16,384 pixels wide and under 80 MB. An ordinary partial Pano image does not cover a full sphere. If the image is stored in iCloud Photos, let it finish downloading and try again. You can also import from Files.
How do I get a better 360° photo?
Keep the rear lens above one fixed point while turning, rather than walking around the room. Follow the dot-and-circle guide, pause steadily at each target and avoid moving subjects. Good light and a consistent viewpoint reduce stitching defects.
Are the measurements suitable for construction?
Dimensions and areas are estimates. Scan conditions, occlusion and RoomPlan geometry can affect them. Verify important measurements independently; RoomLenz is not a certified survey or a substitute for professional measurement. You can switch units in Settings.
Why does a USDZ look different from the in-app model?
Photographic materials and some furniture detail enhance the RoomLenz viewer. Native USDZ export contains RoomPlan geometry. An export is available only after a usable native model has been generated. PDF, PNG and JSON exports serve different purposes; JSON references assets and is not a complete project backup.
How can I delete my data or change permissions?
Open a property, choose Property actions and Delete project, then confirm. This removes its saved files from RoomLenz on the current device. Separately remove any exports, shared copies or device backups you no longer want. Manage camera access in your device’s Settings for RoomLenz; existing saved projects can still be viewed.
Does RoomLenz upload my scans?
The current app has no account, developer cloud sync, advertising or third-party analytics. Scans and photos are processed locally. Sharing happens only when you choose an export or the system share sheet. Apple device backups and iCloud photo downloads follow your Apple settings.
